Statement of Faith

We believe that the Bible is the infallible and inspired Word of God (II Tim. 3:16).

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  (I John 5:7).

We believe that creation was an act of God (Col. 1:16-17).

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was born of a virgin (Matt. 1:18).

We believe that Jesus Christ came to earth to give His life on the cross for us. We believe that through His death we can have eternal life (Rom. 6:23).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ and in His ascension into heaven
(I Cor. 15:4 and Acts 1:11).

We believe that everyone has sinned and is in need of a Savior (Rom. 3:23).

We believe that we are saved through faith, by God’s grace and not by any of our righteous acts (Eph. 2:8-9).

We believe that anyone who receives Christ as his Savior will spend eternity with Him (John 3:16).

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide strong academic teaching; to instill godly character traits through study habits, daily classroom routines, Biblical standards, and Scripture memorization; and to help develop our students’ God-given talents. Consequently, we consider II Peter 1:5-7 a foundation for supporting our mission: “…for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.”

General Information

Ambassador Academy is located at 4240 18th Ave. NW, Rochester, Minnesota.  It is a private, non- denominational Christian school, established to provide high quality, affordable schooling for those who wish to have their children and grandchildren in an educational environment where godly principles are practiced daily. The school is supported by tuition payments, fund raisers, and gifts.

We use Christian-based materials, and all subjects are teacher led. To accommodate individual needs, the teacher may allow students to join in lessons given at another grade level. This system allows those who are behind in an area to get additional help and offers a challenge and “head-start” to the more advanced students. One-on-one assistance is also available. Math, language, reading, science and history are taught at grade level. Bible, Spanish, sign language, penmanship, art, music and physical education are taught with two or more grades combined.

Philosophy

We believe that God wants every child to know Him. We also believe that He wants all children to be strong in godly character so that their lives will make a difference for Him. To support this belief, we emphasize Scripture memorization and its application to daily living.

We believe that each child is uniquely created by God. We accommodate this uniqueness by using a variety of teaching materials and methods conducive to meeting the needs of each learning style and personality.

We believe that the classroom is the training ground for the future, a miniature replica of the “real world.” Our classroom rules and procedures support the expectations of future ministries and employers.

We believe that structure is of supreme importance in learning and in the molding of characters; consequently, a lack thereof can result only in chaos, loss of control, and destruction. Our students have opportunities to make independent decisions and to respectfully express their thoughts and emotions while under the complete authority of a responsible teacher.

Admission

Each child will be interviewed in the presence of his parents. Admission to Ambassador Academy is dependent upon the student’s respect for rules and authority figures, interest in learning, sensitivity to spiritual truths, ability to respect others in a classroom environment without causing repeated disruption, and upon, at least, average learning ability. If the student comes in as a transfer student, his grades will be reviewed at the time of the interview. Copies of other school records may be requested as well.  Parents are required to sign the Parental Agreement Form before admission will be granted.

Ambassador Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin in admissions, the administration of policies, or student activities.

Registration

Upon acceptance, parents are required to provide the school with the registration and materials-fee payments, completed Ambassador Academy forms, and student records from the previous school.  The child will need to be registered in the school district under Ambassador Academy.

The registration fee is $75.00 per child. This fee is for new students only. It is non-refundable, non-transferable, and is to accompany the registration forms.

Attendance

A successful school year is dependent, among other things, upon regular attendance. The lessons taught and fellowship experienced during class cannot be duplicated.  A single, life-changing moment can be lost due to an absence. Absences also cause additional hardships both on the child and on the teacher. Parents are asked to plan vacations during regularly-scheduled days off or school breaks; appointments should be scheduled after school or as late in the day as possible. If a child is ill, the parents are responsible for calling in the absentee before school begins.

Conduct

Students are expected to respect those in authority as well as the other students. Mean or rough physical contact, teasing, and swearing will not be tolerated.

Students are expected to sit quietly and listen when lessons are given. When students are not in a lesson, they are to be working independently. Students are allowed to quietly help their classmates when assistance is needed.

Schoolwork is to be done correctly and neatly. Laziness is unacceptable. Students are expected to exert full effort in everything they do.

Minor or occasional offenses of these expectations would result in a verbal reminder. Repeated offenses may have various consequences, depending upon the gravity of the offense and the age of the student. Examples of possible consequences would be the following: having the child write sentences concerning the appropriate behavior, doing uncompleted work during recess, doing an assignment over neatly during break, practicing the appropriate behavior during break, loss of privileges, etc. If the unacceptable behavior is not corrected, the parents will be notified.

Major violations may result in serving after-school detention(s), suspension, or even dismissal depending upon the circumstance. Examples of major violations would be bullying, theft, insubordination, vandalism, carrying or using weapons, arson, physical assault, repeated profanity/obscene gestures, and inappropriate physical contact.

Students are expected to take care of school property. Students/parents will be responsible for replacing damaged equipment, materials, etc.

Dress Code

Students are expected to dress in a manner that glorifies the Lord. Apparel should be neat and modest in appearance. Girls may wear pants.  Jeans are permitted but are not to be ragged or torn. Sweat pants are not permitted.  Shirts may not have messages or pictures on them. Sun dresses and sleeveless tops are to be worn with a blouse, jacket, or sweater. Shorts and dresses may not be shorter than halfway up the thighs.  Tennis shoes are required for recess and P.E.

Students may not come to school with their hair colored in an unnatural manner. Fake tattoos, and pierced noses, brows, tongues, etc. are not permitted. Boys may not wear earrings in school.

School Cancellations

Ambassador Academy follows the Rochester Public School weather-related closings and delays.

Telephone-Use Policy

Students may use the school phone for urgent needs only. If a child needs to have a cell phone in his possession for specific needs, the phone must be turned off and kept in his backpack.

Classroom Visits

Parents are welcome to visit the classroom as long as arrangements are made in advance with the teacher. The teacher reserves the right to limit the time and frequency of these visits in circumstances when the parents’ presence is a distraction to the child.

Changes in the Handbook

Ambassador Academy reserves the right to make changes in the handbook when it is necessary to do so.
